MAISON NANO explores textiles as a connective body between the inner and outer worlds of human perception. The “in-between” of waking and sleeping. The pajama becomes a tactile object and a symbol of our everyday lives, our dreams, or our fears, desires, and joys.
Based on collaboration, mutual inspiration, and an interest in the surreal, Christian Eisenberger, Tex Rubinowitz, Daniel Spoerri, Sophie Thun, and Ingrid Wiener have each created textile works in an edition of nine pieces.
All five artists have been captured in photographic portraits—wearing their own works in scenes developed together with familiar photographers.
At the invitation of Paul Renner, parts of the edition will be publicly displayed in the summer/fall of 2025 in the whitewashed shop windows of his studio and exhibition space La Vetrina in the harbor of Porto Santa Margherita. There, the pajamas hang like fleeting figures; defining the negative spaces of the whitened windows. From the outside, the glass surface functions like a giant guest book—one that, in fact, no one really knows about, except the passers-by who leave their scribbles.
